Juniors

Tennis is a great sport for young people and at Glenageary LTC we have a strong and active junior membership. We foster a culture of sportsmanship and fairplay in our juniors but we also provide them the opportunity to make new friends, have fun and improve their physical fitness.

At GLTC, we make sure that there is something for every Junior Member regardless of age and level, so whether you’re a 6-year-old starting tennis for the first time or an experienced Open Tournament player, we have something to offer at GLTC.

We are very proud that we have a number of Top Nationally Ranked Juniors in most age groups who started their Tennis journey doing the group coaching at GLTC. And we are equally proud of our junior members who play regularly for their love of the sport and the friendships they have forged at the Club.

Child Protection and Code of Conduct

GLTC has adopted and implemented the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport as set out by Tennis Ireland as an integral part of club policy on children and club membership. Upon joining the Club or renewal of annual membership, all members agree to abide by the Code of Conduct and the club’s Child Protection Policy. These codes and policies are set out in our compliance section here and all members and their children should read and become familiar with them.

Have fun safely

Whilst we want our junior members to have fun and enjoy their time at the club, we want them to do so safely and with respect for each other, for coaches, members and other players & visitors.

GLTC is not responsible for providing adult supervision for children except for formal coaching, matches and competitions.

GLTC does not accept responsibility for independent recreational play e.g. two juniors arriving at the club on their own to play a game or children being left unsupervised while their parents/guardians/carers are playing tennis or are elsewhere.

Under 8’s are not permitted to attend GLTC without an accompanying guardian / adult taking responsibility for their care. Children are very welcome in the club and clubhouse, however, we would stress that parents advise their children to heed caution when on our club balcony & staircase ie no running, jumping or horse-play is allowed.
