Covid-19 notice
Dear Members,

The Executive Committee in GLTC is continuously monitoring the situation with regards to the Covid-19/ Corona Virus to determine if we should continue our current levels of activity. The committee is receiving feedback from the members every day and whilst we are conscious that some of you feel that the club should close, many others are asking us to stay open for play. In the time since we closed the clubhouse and issued guidelines on play to include social distancing, we are delighted to observe that those who are making use of the facilities are complying with these recommendations.
Following a virtual meeting yesterday the committee decided to keep the courts open for members until further notice. Weighing towards this decision is a desire to observe and comply with current advice from the national authorities and also Tennis Ireland. We are also aware that the tennis club contributes to facilitate physical and mental wellbeing for many of our members.
As we now decide to stay open, we are asking you all to continue to do your utmost to adhere to the guidelines and we are adding some further directives as set out below.
Lastly, the committee will continue to meet about this situation and members should be aware that the club might have to close on short notice following any change in national policy.
Kind Regards and Stay Safe
Jan Pettersen
President, GLTC

Directives for use of Court Facilities at GLTC

  1. Courts only available to members, non-members are not allowed to play.
  2. Junior under 14 must only play with adult family member, or sibling when an adult family member is present.
  3. Juniors over 14 must play with an adult, there can be no junior only matches. Where Juniors are playing on a court beside parents then they are considered under parental supervision.
  4. Hand hygiene is essential and all players are expected to wash hands before and after matches. (We acknowledge handwashing facilities are not ideal as the clubhouse is closed, but we have provided handwash at the water fountain and all players should bring their own towel or alternatively use hand sanitiser.)
  5. Respect social distancing at all times and do not shake hands before or after the game.
  6. Any member who has a family member in their household who is self isolating should not visit the club.

Should these guidelines not be respected then the committee will have no option but to close the club facilities.

Tennis Ireland has also issued some guidelines and we are already complying with, or exceeding those guidlines.
