Compass Draw
The first of the Compass Draws for Ladies' and Men's Singles tennis has now closed. A new Compass Draw will be published on Tuesday 14th July.

We have had a fabulous reponse to the Compass Draw initiative with 72 men and 87 women. The Compass Draw (in line with Tennis Ireland guidelines) is "casual" tennis with a slightly competitive edge 😄🏆

Gary and Catherine had plenty to do to get it up and running and have made a few changes from the original advertised format. Due to the high number of entries, we have made most draws with 16 people, instead of 8.

We also agreed that the 3rd set should be a normal tie-break (up to 7 points) instead of a championship tie-break.

  • Matches are best of 3 sets, the 3rd set being a tie-break
  • Short games - first point after deuce with receiver choosing which side to receive from
  • If match cannot be completed within allocated timeslot …
    - the winner shall be the player who is leading in the order
    - most sets
    - most games (if 1 set all and tie-break has not started)
    - most points in 3rd set tie-break

We aim to have first round matches completed by Tuesday 16th June. You should contact your first opponent and book court in ClubManager365. Make sure to allocate 3 x 30-minute slots for your match. Start promptly to make sure you get your match finished.

If you don't know how to contact your opponent, you will find them on ClubManager365 - click My Services > My Dashboard and the Player list is in the bottom-left panel and is searchable. Or ask Gary or Catherine (email addresses below).

Each draw in the Ladies competition has a results co-ordinator, so please send your results to that person (shown in draw) rather than to Catherine. Men can enter their own results, providing they have Google Sheets available.
